In December 2024, we purchased Trollheim-- our new home tucked into the Northwoods of the Upper St. Croix, near Danbury WI. The house sits on five mixed acres of prairie, woods and creek, near the St. Croix and Namekagon Rivers and nearly 300,000 acres of public county forest.

Trollheim is the artistic home of the Fox & Beggar Theater. It will house our creative projects as well as individual artist residencies for years to come, taking its main bearings from folklore, traditional knowledge, and storytelling and theater arts (with a heavy dose of D&D-style fantasy adventure).
Resident passions here include Ojibwe and Norsk language study, archery and bowhunting, processing roadkill, circus arts, puppetry, canoeing and fishing, wild foraging, dance parties, board games, Old Time and fiddle music, and general woodland merriment.

In 2026, we will be entering our second year of land ownership and our first year accepting short-to-medium length residencies.
Residents will be provided a clean furnished bedroom and full access to both kitchens (indoor and outdoor), all work spaces, and everywhere on the land, as well as use of any larger community tools or items (ie canoes).
There is no cost to live and stay here, but residents should expect to contribute 10-20 hours monthly toward our long-term goals of housing people and things that build a stronger local world and a shared belief in wild magic.
Long-term visions for the land include providing child foster care, hosting wilderness-oriented summer camps, and eventually, developing a coffee stand / café along the nearby highway.

Residency proposals are ongoing, can start anytime, and last up to 12 months.
Folks that seem like a good fit will be contacted to set up a phone call, where both sides can ask questions to learn more about the feasibility of the residency.
