On June 8 2024, an audience of three hundred sat down in the grass in the St. Croix Valley to watch a special work-in-progress presentation of a new show, The Paper Operetta. The story centered around a world of Medieval two-dimensional paper dolls, at the dawn of the Scientific Revolution, building the first thing to exist in a new dimension-- a human. The show was devised by twelve artists over three weeks at the Acreage in Osceola, WI.
From out of this workshop emerges "Tigre! Tigre!" a new play touring Minnesota and Wisconsin in Fall 2025, including stops in St. Croix Falls, Stillwater, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Northfield, Viroqua, Eau Claire, Hayward, and Bayfield.
With plenty of puppetry, dark whimsy, and a live original score influenced by everything from Medieval lutes to Gilbert & Sullivan, "Tigre! Tigre!" explores humanity's dark and absurd relationship to technology while asking the fundamental question: what drives us to perpetually open new doors that we know we won't be able to close?
Our tour calendar will be posted soon.
